SciFi and Fantasy Art: Insbordinate.

i think im entering a strangely surreal stage in my artwork.  this one just wont cooperate with me. i dont think i will ever finish this one; maybe its finished now. i had this vision, and its fairly close. this is the one which i attempted to blend the colors with alcohol without thinking about the paper wrinkling, it wrinkled. so it sat around for a few weeks (months?) until i finally decided today to mess with it a bit. i fixed the background a little, and i think its about as good as its going to get. the smoothness i was looking for just isnt coming out. so i decide to move onto the face. as im drawing in the eyes, they just wont look right (keep in mind, this is not the first time i've struggled with the eyes on this peice) and ive come to the conclusion that it just doesnt want eyes. the eyes, however i draw them, look out of place and unnatural.
okay, enough bashing of this.
all in all, i think its a pretty cool peice. its saddening that i probably wont finish it, but maybe in a few years, i'll return to it. i hope you guys like it as well!

by the way, this is micron pens, colored pencil, chalk pastel, and graphite. i think maybe 8 hours? 2/06

Don't finish it. I think it has a very stunning feel to it this way. I would just add maybe closed eyes to the face and you've done a great depiction of the title. The person refuses to fade in comparison to the wonderful colors of that great background you have goin' on there. This could turn out to be an excellent composition even "unfinished"

:-) H. Harper replies: "actually i have decided that this is better left "unfinished" i have tried to put eyes in this somewhere, but the subject refuses. i think this is as far as its going to go; thanks for the suggestions though. i really enjoy it when people leave me constructive comments like yours. thanks!"

wow, I love the background here, with the globes and the pretty pretty birds! I do also think that you should leave the face as it is. it gives a good effect.

wow. I really have nothing more to say than ’wow’. This is amazing.
